Some time ago, the South African Social Security Agency contributed an important New Year statement concerning pension grant payments for older persons. Some clarity has been added for benefitting in terms of calculating expectations regarding the grand date. This simply gives African seniors a bit of a heads-up about their nearly having rations for next month.
Old Age Grants will receive attention at the beginning of each new month
SASSA reported that the old age grants shall enjoy its precedence for payment when the new cycle starts. Pension payments are traditionally paid early for the said month; hence, older-aged beneficiaries get paid before the social grants can be laid out. The idea behind such behavior is just to support the seniors who provide for their livelihood mostly with the pension money and to cover their basic needs like sustenance, medical care, and utilities.
The Major Things to Expect for this Month
While the timing of the payment should follow the usual pattern, SASSA reminds its beneficiaries that the funds might appear at different times subject to the payment method used. Bank posting, retail shops, and the availability of the card may be marginally different. It is encouraged that pensioners not rush to the point of payment if funds are not immediately available to them.
No Action Needed By Beneficiaries
SASSA, however, explains to pensioners that they need not reapply or perform any other actions to receive payment in the beginning of the New Year. Payment shall be under process as long as entitlement is unchanged and the CE does not enclose their correct personal details. Beneficiaries are urged to ensure the correctness of their banking and contact details to avoid delays.
Safety and Scam Warnings In Place
In the few days leading to the pension payout, SASSA has issued yet another warning to its beneficiaries to beware of scams. A pertinent slot of information highlights that pensioners are advised against sharing personal information, PINS, or messages regarding the grant upon which any potential assistance offer may be construed. SASSA added, “It does not charge its beneficiaries a fee for processing their grants or information for grant processing purposes.
Looking Ahead to the Year
SASSA is to stay true to its main mandate of providing continuous and reliable support for the elderly throughout the year. For many families, until such time that the cost of living is stabilized, pension payments are the very crucial benchmark to flood some financial assistance. As such, old-age pensioners are reminded to keep abreast with the latest official updates in the process of the year.
